I Love the Bullet. It has never been like the other bikes. It is so unlike other bikes that I prefer to call it motorcycle instead. The word bike does not seem to suit it. Apart from its time less charm and cult status I love this motorcycle because of its sheer riding pleasure. Its heavy weight and a low centre of mass make it stick to the ground and provide the rider a surprisingly smooth and comfortable ride. Ohh well.. Why do I even care to write all this… The Royal Enfield Bullet needs no introduction. Its the motorcycle India has grown up with.
So.. I will jump to my love for the Bullet. I have always liked them. Even as a kid i liked them. But I only got to ride it when my brother, to my surprise, brought home a second hand bullet Electra 4s. At first, I was a little apprehensive about riding it. I am afraid of its weight. But then with a little push from my brother I gathered the courage to do ride it. The bike started in one smooth kick! … cool!…I said. I pulled it in to first gear and slowly accelerated. You will feel the difference with other bikes at this point itself. It feels like it glides over the surface. Though with the rider and the pillion the motorcycle weighed around 3 quintals, it showed no signs of discomfort at all. It actually felt pretty light once it started moving. It just hurled forward with increasing momentum and a bigger smile on my face.
As I got more comfortable with the bike my love for it became many fold. In a few months I was planning to take it on long rides. But then…like a lightning bolt from the blue… my brother decided to sell it :( I decided to buy my own…
After almost 10 months of planning and saving for my own bike, I finally booked my own Bullet on 13th November 2009. It’s the all new Royal Enfield Classic 350 and in 2 days I take its delivery :)
